Bike Sharing: The Gift That Keeps On Giving

A bicycle can’t fit in a stocking, but a key to unlock a whole fleet of them sure can! This holiday season, give the cycling enthusiast in your family a Bay Area Bike Share membership. It’s the gift of independence and mobility.

The 700 mint-colored Bike Share bikes are spread throughout San Francisco, San Jose, Palo Alto, Mountain View and Redwood City. A membership gets you 30-minute unlimited trips – to work, to school or to happy hour with friends. Simply pick up a bike at your starting point, and drop it off at the station nearest to your destination.

Launched in August 2013, Bay Area Bike Share has quickly claimed thousands of loyal members. The system is set to expand to the East Bay in 2015. To learn more about Bay Area Bike Share, check out videos, interviews and data from Bike Share’s first year on the streets.

Annual memberships cost $88, and a variety of other gift options are available online.

Bay Area Bike Share is jointly funded by MTC and other Bay Area agencies.
