MTC is your regional transportation advocate. We track policy and funding developments at the state and federal levels to:
- Ensure that the Bay Area benefits from new opportunities
- Defend against proposals that may reduce funding for Bay Area transportation
- Advance our goal of a safe, efficient and well-maintained regional transportation system

MTC also negotiates agreements among numerous local agencies. By presenting a united front, we help the Bay Area put its best foot forward when competing for state and federal funding.
MTC’s state and federal advocacy efforts are guided by its Legislation Committee.
Committee meetings cover the latest developments in Sacramento and Washington, as well as recommendations by MTC staff to support or oppose particular bills.
