Recreation + Open Space

One common thread for more than 7 million Bay Area residents is our certainty that we live in one of the most beautiful places in the country.

Coyote Hills-Alameda County

Coyote Hills Regional Park, in southern Alameda County.

Open space and recreation areas have long been important priorities for the Bay Area community. It’s part of the reason we live here, and why so many millions visit every year.

MTC has been a major supporter of the San Francisco Bay Trail, a 500-mile network that connects our communities and protects the Bay Area’s natural beauty.

MTC also is involved in the development of Gateway Park, which will join the beauty of the new Bay Bridge East Span to the natural, industrial and transportation history of the East Bay.
