Left Coast Lifter Departure

Minor follow-up work continues on the new Bay Bridge East Span, but the biggest tool that was used on the project is on the move. This mammoth tool, the Left Coast Lifter, was built just for the Bay Bridge project but its owner, American Bridge/Fluor, is giving it another chance to make construction history. That will happen — after a long journey through the Panama Canal — on our other coast, where the massive crane will help build the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
