Mega Region Working Group

Oakland, March 23

Vice Chair Mackenzie and Commissioners Baker, Haggerty, Spering and Worth met with their counterparts from the San Juaquin and Sacramento MPOs in the first official meeting of our tri-region alliance that will attempt to better coordinate our policy and planning work across regional boundaries. 

NACO Freight Roundtable

Oakland, March 24

At the request of Commissioner Haggerty, I participated in a panel discussion about Bay Area and interregional goods movement issues before officials of the National Association of Counties. Chair Cortese also attended the forum.

Bay Area Partnership

Oakland, March 25

The regular meeting of this executive-level group met to discuss the revised Cap and Trade Framework that is before the Commission today for approval.

South Bay Housing Tour

San Jose, March 30

The Non Profit Housing Association of Northern California put together a site tour for MTC executive staff of several affordable TOD projects in and around San Jose.

CityAge Conference

San Francisco, April 5

Commissioner Schaaf and I appeared on separate panels at this future-focused event organized around strategies to help cities thrive.

U.S. HUD Prosperity Playbook Event

San Francisco, April 7

I joined the three "big city" mayors and numerous other local officials at a roundtable discussion organized by the office of HUD Secretary Julian Castro at San Francisco City Hall.

Miami MPO Site Visit

I'd like to thank the commissioners and staff who took time out of their busy days to meet with our counterparts from Miami.

Beale Street Green Light

San Francisco, April 18

Congratulations to Andy Fremier and the other key staff who finally secured permission from the State Fire Marshall for the three regional agencies and our Fastrak contractor Xerox to move into our new Bay Area Metro Center headquarters. The Fastrak customer service center has already moved in and began operations on April 25th. MTC and ABAG will move in on May 23rd and the Air District will relocate a week later on May 31st.  The May commission and committee meetings also will be held in the new facility, so get your revised commute plans ready.

High Speed Rail Meeting

San Jose, April 21

Commissioner Liccardo and I both testified before the California High Speed Rail Authority Board of Directors in support of their proposal to connect the Central Valley section of track now under construction first to San Jose's Diridon Station before building the Los Angeles leg of the statewide rail network.
