MTC's 2016 high school interns.

Each year MTC sponsors a High School Internship Program. The purpose of the program is to introduce high school students in the 10th, 11th or 12th grade to career opportunities in the field of transportation, to show them how public transportation agencies play an overall part in the community, county, and regional transportation operations. These interns provide MTC’s transportation partners, such as city and county public works departments or transit agencies,  with assistance.

The program was conceived of by MTC's Minority Citizens Advisory Committee to encourage young people who might not otherwise consider a career in transportation to do so. Students of all races and ethnic backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

  1. Complete the online application by selecting and applying to the internship opportunities listed by county here: http://jobs.mtc.ca.gov/internships/high-school-internship-program.
  2. Attach a one-page letter (.doc or .pdf) that describes in your own words a transportation problem in your community and explains what you think could be done to help resolve the problem. When attaching document, select "Transportation Letter" as Attachment Type.
  3. Attach one letter of recommendation from a teacher, principal, counselor, religious leader, or employer (two letters are required if GPA is below 2.8).

NOTE: You are basically creating an account, creating an application, selecting a position to apply for and attaching your application to the position and attaching required documents for that position (Transportation Letter & Recommendation Letter).
