High School Internship Program

Please note: The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) made the difficult decision to suspend our high school and college internship programs for the summer of 2020. MTC will be using this time to create a more robust and enhanced internship program for all of our student interns. Please complete a Job Interest Card and select the Internship category if you would like to be kept apprised of future internship opportunities at MTC!

In the past, MTC has sponsored a High School Internship Program each summer. The purpose of the program is to introduce high school students in the 10th, 11th or 12th grade to career opportunities in the field of transportation, to show them how public transportation agencies play an overall part in the community, county, and regional transportation operations. These interns provide MTC’s transportation partners, such as city and county public works departments or transit agencies,  with assistance.

The program was conceived of by MTC's Minority Citizens Advisory Committee to encourage young people who might not otherwise consider a career in transportation to do so. Students of all races and ethnic backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

For more information, contact us at InternCoordinator@bayareametro.gov or 415-778-5207. If you are interested in being notified of these internship positions when they become available, complete our online Job Interest Card and select the “Internship” category.
