The Toll Bridge Program Oversight Committee, or TBPOC, was established by the state Legislature to oversee the replacement of the east span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and other projects included in the state Toll Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program.
The committee’s responsibilities include:
- Review and approval of contract bid documents
- Review and resolution of project issues
- Evaluation and approval of project change orders and claims
- Issuing quarterly progress reports to the Legislature
The three-member TBPOC includes MTC and BATA’s Executive Director, Caltrans’ statewide Director and the Executive Director of the California Transportation Commission.
Each of the Bay Area’s seven state-owned toll bridges is included in the Toll Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program:
- Antioch Bridge
- Benicia-Martinez Bridge
- Carquinez Bridge
- Dumbarton Bridge
- Richmond-San Rafael Bridge
- San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge
- San Mateo-Hayward Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge, owned and operated by the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, is not included in the state Toll Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program.
