Whether it's a leisurely bayside stroll or a heart-pumping ascent on a hillside trail, the Bay Area's enthusiasm for bicycling, hiking and walking is well known.

And no wonder. Majestic scenery and moderate climate make our region a place to explore on bike or on foot all year round.

In May 2015, MTC set aside $4.5 million in federal funds for bike share expansion projects. In the first round of bike share capital grants, approved in November 2017, MTC awarded $2.6 million to Richmond, Fremont and a joint project along the SMART corridor by the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) and Sonoma County Transportation Authority (SCTA). These projects are currently underway.
