I-880 Alameda County

I-880 between Oakland and Milpitas

MTC is working to convert to Express Lanes the existing I-880 HOV lanes that run southbound from Hegenberger Road to Dixon Landing Road and northbound from Dixon Landing Road to Lewelling Blvd. The conversion involves lane striping and the installation of signs and sign gantries, FasTrak® toll tag readers, traffic monitoring video cameras and CHP observation areas. The project will result in 51 Express Lane miles from Oakland to Milpitas. This Express Lane project is coordinated with Caltrans and will follow the progression of Caltrans’ project to replace the median barrier on I-880.

Work on the project started in September 2017 at the southern end of the corridor and will move north, with the entire project slated for completion by early 2020. To sign up to receive I-880 Express Lane construction notices, email info@bayareaexpresslanes.org.
