East Palo Alto played host on September 23 to one of many Family Bike Workshops funded by a nearly $200,000 Spare the Air Youth Grant from MTC and the Bay Area Air Qualiy Management District. The workshops provide a safe and lively environment for kids and their family members to learn about bike safety, go on group rides and pick up some freebies while they're at it. At this event, technicians from the Bay Area BikeMobile — another Spare the Air Youth grantee— fixed a slew of broken bikes and showed the cyclists how to make quick repairs themselves. The evening culminated with a four-mile ride along a beatufiul strech of the Bay Trail.
