The Final Implosion of the Old Bay Bridge East Span

Caltrans has finished its demolition of the old Bay Bridge East Span a year ahead of schedule, and 10 million dollars below budget, with a stupendous final implosion of the final two piers. Our Mark Jones was up with the bridge crews at 4 a.m. as the countdown began. Traffic on the new bridge was halted at 7:15 as the blast neared ignition.
