Sonoma County residents, and especially the residents of Petaluma, have reason to be happy tonight. Groundbreaking on the final 16-mile improvement to the Sonoma Narrows, after 20 years of waiting, has finally taken place. Petaluma residents will get the highway sound walls they want to reduce noise, and the improvements will including raising the highway so city residents have another way to make east/west connections in a city that is divided by a river, train tracks and by Highway 101.
