Transportation Advocacy

As the Bay Area’s metropolitan planning agency, MTC is responsible for transportation planning, financing and coordinating for the nine-county region. Advocating for state and federal funding is a critical piece of making sure the region’s transportation network runs well.

There are a range of policies at the state level that impact Bay Area transportation. MTC advocates for our current and future transportation needs.

Cap and Trade Advocacy

MTC helps Bay Area partners submit funding proposals that will compete well against those from other parts of the state. Many important regional projects use Cap and Trade funding to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Regional Measure 3 (RM3) Advocacy

Approved by Bay Area voters in 2018, this ballot measure targeted the Bay Area’s traffic congestion problem with an increase in bridge tolls that will finance highway and transit improvements.
