Bay Wheels Bike Share Program
Bay Wheels brings affordable, accessible point-to-point bike sharing to Bay Area cities.
Bay Wheels is the Bay Area's regional bike share program serving Berkeley, Daly City, Emeryville, Oakland, San Jose and San Francisco. Bay Wheels offers convenient, healthy, climate-friendly transportation around the Bay Area.
Bay Wheels offers over 7,000 bicycles (both traditional bikes and hybrid electric bikes) at 550 stations:
- Pedal-powered bikes can be picked up and dropped off at Bay Wheels docking stations
- E-bikes can use the docking stations or can be locked to a city bike rack
Bay Wheels is a partnership between MTC, the six local governments, and Motivate (a subsidiary of Lyft).
Visit the Bay Wheels website for more information about bikes, locations and more.
Affordable & Accessible Bikes
Programs for riders with low incomes and the option to pay with cash (instead of cards) put the Bay Area’s regional bike share program within reach for more people.
Bay Area residents who qualify for SFMTA Lifeline Pass, CalFresh or PG&E CARE utility discounts are eligible for discounted memberships.
You can use your Clipper card as a key to unlock any available bike at Bay Wheels docking stations in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville and downtown San Jose.
