Bay Bridge East Span: Corrosion Stress Test

A series of 23 day tests, that will be replicated on different bolts over a period of months, is underway on the new Bay Bridge project. Unlike the bolts which broke under pressure, these bots have all passed their tests and are under pressure at Pier E2. These Stress Corrosion tests are designed to subject rods and bolts to extreme conditions to find out exactly what their breaking point is.
