MTC Seeks Comments on Federal Performance Targets
As the region’s metropolitan planning organization, MTC is responsible for setting short-range performance targets to comply with federal law. Throughout 2017 and 2018, MTC will be setting the first round of such targets on issues ranging from safety to asset management to system performance. Ultimately, adopted targets will be featured on the Vital Signs performance monitoring website.
Setting 2018 Targets for Road Safety
MTC staff are currently seeking input on potential safety targets for calendar year 2018, which must be set by February 2018. A suite of potential options and a draft staff recommendation were released in October 2017; comments are requested by November 8, 2017. A detailed staff report on current safety trends and target-setting options can be found via this link.
In parallel, staff is working to update safety performance monitoring data on the Vital Signs website, including localized information on the county and city levels which can support local jurisdictions’ safety efforts. The latest data will be released to the public later this fall.
