Two projects sponsored by MTC were honored this week by the 27th Annual California Transportation Foundation (CTF) Awards Program. MTC’s Vital Signs website and Solano County’s Mobility Management Program won the awards for Public Outreach of the Year and Transit Services Program of the Year, respectively.
Recognized for its innovative approach to displaying data, the Vital Signs website represents a shift in sharing data, from stuffy charts on printed documents to interactive and customizable graphs and charts accessible to a growing online audience. Vital Signs is a resource for local agencies and interested Bay Area residents, who want to know the region’s transportation, land use, and economic and environmental well-being. The website was developed by MTC, in collaboration agency partners and a Code for America consultant team.
Also deserving of recognition is the Solano Mobility Management Program, which helps anyone who wants to learn how to navigate public transit in a safe and independent manner through personalized one-on-one trainings, group trainings with travel trainers and ambassadors, rider’s guides and a do-it-yourself video online. The one-on-one travel training is specifically for people with disabilities to encourage greater independence and community integration. As a project sponsor, MTC has provided both funding and advisory roles to help develop this program.
The annual CTF awards recognize excellence in California transportation every year, all modes, from both the public and private sectors and from all regions of the state.
