There is a year of landscaping yet to do, and some overnight restriping of lanes, but San Francisco's new and improved connector to the Golden Gate Bridge is open to traffic. Construction crews were able to shave eight hours off a planned 79-hour closure of Doyle Drive over the extended July 9-13 weekend, and the roadway — now transformed into the Presidio Parkway — reopened to traffic at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 12. Videographer Mark Jones was on hand the next morning as local and state officials gathered at an overlook to mark the essential completion of this seismic safety project, and cut a ceremonial ribbon. As a funding partner, MTC was represented at the event by Commissioner Scott Wiener, who also serves on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and chairs the San Francisco County Transportation Authority.
