New Members Inaugurated to MTC’s Policy Advisory Council
The new term for the MTC Policy Advisory Council kicked off this week. The 27 members of the council will serve a four-year term through 2025 and advise Metropolitan Transportation Commissioners on critical issues to move the Bay Area forward, with a particular focus on equity, sustainability, affordability and accessibility for all.
Council members come from all nine counties to represent the Bay Area’s vibrant and diverse communities, helping ensure the needs of all people are considered when making and executing plans for the region. Council members were selected based on their knowledge and experience in economics, the environment and social equity.
Beyond transit operations and other transportation issues, the Policy Advisory Council’s purview mirrors MTC’s increasing work in housing and land use, with a significant portion of the Council’s agenda during this term expected to center on the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority.
During the most recent Policy Advisory Council term, members were instrumental in guiding development of Plan Bay Area 2050, the region’s long-range plan for transportation, housing, the econom, and the environment. The new Council members will weigh in on current and upcoming initiatives, including implementation of the Bay Area Transit Transformation Action Plan.
Policy Advisory Council meetings are open to the public and held on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. View upcoming meeting schedules and agendas to join a meeting and provide input.
