Plan Bay Area 2050 Draft Blueprint - Outreach Recap

Thousands of Bay Area residents chimed in during the second round of Plan Bay Area 2050 outreach, conducted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The public expressed a resounding concern regarding housing affordability and many other topics, and their input will help inform staff recommendations on the strategies to be included in the Final Blueprint and, ultimately, the final decisions about Plan Bay Area 2050. A summary of those comments is available on the Plan Bay Area website.

During the 2020 public engagement period, MTC/ABAG staff held 25 digital and non-digital events beginning in late spring. Residents and stakeholders were also able to provide their feedback via online survey, email, telephone, statistically valid poll and during virtual office hours. Over 6,500 comments were received from upwards of 3,000 people during this time.

The last public engagement opportunity for Plan Bay Area 2050 will be in spring 2021. To participate, sign up for the Plan Bay Area mailing list on the homepage at, and you will be notified of upcoming opportunities for comment.

Plan Bay Area 2050 is a long-range plan charting the course for the future of the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. Plan Bay Area 2050 will focus on four key issues—the economy, the environment, housing and transportation—and will identify a path to make the Bay Area more equitable for all residents and more resilient in the face of unexpected challenges.
