Veteran Discount on Bay Area Transit
On Veterans Day – and every day – we thank veterans for their service to this country. Select Bay Area transit agencies offer free or discounted rides to veterans.
Capital Corridor
Capital Corridor offers a 15% discount for veterans and active-duty members of the U.S. military, along with spouses and dependents. Some blackout dates apply, so be sure to read the terms and conditions on the pages linked below.
- Veterans: qualifying proof of veterans status is required
- Active-duty riders: a valid active-duty United States Armed Forces identification card is required
Petaluma Transit
All rides are free for all riders on Petaluma Transit; no veteran ID required.
Santa Rosa City Bus
Santa Rosa City Bus offers free fares to U.S. veterans. When boarding, riders must present a Veterans Administration identification card or a Sonoma County Veterans identification card.
Sonoma County Transit
Sonoma County Transit is offering free rides for veterans on all local fixed-route transit throughout the county. Just show your veteran ID card when boarding.
Veterans can also qualify for free paratransit trips in Sonoma County. To establish eligibility for the free rides, set up your account by calling Sonoma County Transit at (707) 576-7433 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Other Discounts Available
If you are not a U.S. veteran but need help paying for public transit, you may qualify for a different discount program when you use your Clipper® card, the Bay Area’s all-in-one way to pay for transit.
- People with low incomes may qualify for the Clipper START program, which offers 50% off all Bay Area transit.
- Riders age 5-18 or 65 and over can apply for a Youth or Senior Clipper card.
- Adults with a disability who are under age 65 can apply for a Regional Transit Connection (RTC) card.
