The Salesforce Transit Center opened in a rolling fashion, first with an official ribbon cutting on Friday, August 10, 2018, then a public party that drew thousands on Saturday, August 11, and wrapping up with a more modest event to mark the start of commute bus service on Monday, August 12. The interior decks of the Transit Center connect directly to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge via a striking bridge, and serve transbay buses piloted by AC Transit and other East Bay systems. Deep in the ground is a subterranean rail station slated to one day serve high speed rail and Caltrain.
