Attention College Students: Applications Due March 27 for Paid Mentorship Program
Bay Area college and university students are encouraged to apply to the MTC Pathway to Government College Mentorship Program. This paid opportunity offers students professional work experience in transportation planning, finance and operational projects.

Mentees will work with a dedicated mentor from June 10 through Aug. 2, 2024, both in the office in downtown San Francisco and remotely. During the eight-week program, mentees will be involved in a variety of tasks aimed at expanding their range of career interests and encouraging them to consider government work as a future career choice.
Mentees will be matched with an area of interest that may include working with these MTC departments:
- Regional Planning Program - Housing
- Regional Planning Program - Bicycle & Pedestrian Projects
- Regional Planning Program - Major Plans
- Design & Project Delivery
- Regional Network Management
- Estuary Partnership
- Business Operations & Capital Projects
- Funding Policy Programs
- Treasury & Revenue - Tolling
- Budgets and Financial Planning and Analysis
- Legislation & Public Affairs
To be considered for this mentorship program, you must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited community college or university, a four-year undergraduate program or a graduate program, preferably within the nine county San Francisco Bay Area. Individuals who already have graduated (no earlier than December 2023) may be considered up to eight (8) months post-graduation.
MTC is looking for students who are majoring in or planning to major in fields such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, City and Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Public Policy, Government Relations, Marketing, Natural Science, Finance/Accounting, and Information Systems/Computer Science. Applications from students in other fields of study or with undeclared majors also will be considered.
