District Resolution Asks Counties to Put Connect Bay Area Transit Measure on November Ballot

The Public Transit Revenue Measure District today approved a resolution accepting the District Elections Official’s certification of the Connect Bay Area Transit initiative measure and requesting the Boards of Supervisors in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties to call a special election on the measure and to consolidate this special election with the November 3, 2026, statewide general election. 

If approved by voters in November, the measure — authorized by state Senate Bill 63, which was introduced by senators Scott Wiener of San Francisco and Jesse Arreguín of Berkeley and signed into law last year by Gov. Gavin Newsom — would establish a 14-year retail transactions and use tax of 0.5% in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties and 1% in the City and County of San Francisco.
