The City of San Leandro has a 100-million dollar backlog of road repairs. Decades of insufficient funding caused the problem. This year, the State Legislature passed a dedicated gas tax that costs an average of 35 cents a day, and restored funding to 1994 levels. That money has led to a flurry of roadwork in San Leandro, and just about every other California city.
