Every year, MTC prepares a Fund Estimate to estimate how much funding will be available from the Transportation Development Act (TDA), State Transit Assistance (STA) and Assembly Bill 1107 and other fund sources.
In February, MTC issues the Fund Estimate for the upcoming fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). The Fund Estimate is typically amended in July to incorporate actual TDA revenue from the previous fiscal year and in September to incorporate actual STA revenue from the previous fiscal year.
In advance of the release of the FY21-22 Fund Estimate, MTC hosted a virtual roundtable discussion about transit revenue trends and forecasts with staff from Bay Area Transit Operators, County Transportation Authorities, and County Auditor offices. Staff from the California Department of Finance delivered a presentation on state-level trends in revenue sources that drive transit funding, and MTC staff delivered a presentation on regional economic trends.
