On June 16 and 17, 2025, MTC and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) hosted Accessible Futures: Sharing. Listening. Learning. — a regional gathering of the Bay Area disability community to identify the unmet needs and gaps in policies, services and advocacy for persons with disabilities across the topics of transportation, housing, the environment and other topics of priority for the community.

The primary objectives of the conference are to:

  1. Convene the community in a centralized regional forum to lay the foundation for building a robust network of individuals, advocates and organizations;
  2. Develop a conference proceedings report for the purpose of advancing community goals and action items; and
  3. Identify new opportunities for future collaboration among conference participants.

Conference participants had the opportunity to:

  • Engage with community leaders and advocates across the nine Bay Area counties in a welcoming and fully accessible environment.
  • Share your lived experiences and priorities with policymakers and invited elected officials.
  • Develop partnerships and identify opportunities for future collaboration.
